The scratches on my hands are healing. It has been a week since I joined a bunch of brave wackos in climbing Mount Apo. I got the scratches for stubbornly refusing to wear gloves during the "assault to the summit." The issued gloves were too big for my hands, and the ones I brought with me was the same pair I wore in Prague. There was no way I would have it caked with mud, and there were evil ferns on the trail. Hence, the scratches. And the color of my hands is now five (or more) times darker than the shade of my arms. ****
Anyhoo, I took a couple of days off after the climb and stayed in Davao until Monday. On Sunday night, I accepted a friendly guy’s offer to walk me around the city. He got us each a can of beer, we headed off to a barbeque place (Banok’s.. which I do not recommend.. Go to Colasa’s instead). We walked around some more and saw a strip bar. I literally dragged him inside. It was my last night in Davao and I was definitely going to do something crazy. That was it. I saw girls, pitiful girls, dancing to Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams. Aside from us, the only ones "watching" were a bunch of girls and a really old guy. It was almost funny, if only it wasn’t too sad.
And I met two new friends just when I was about to leave the city. They gave me a ride to Samal Island, then to the airport. We exchanged numbers and promised to meet up for coffee when they get back to Manila. In fact, I have already arranged dinner with one of them for next week.
I’m not really very friendly but I’m glad other people are. If they weren’t so nice, I would not have any friends at all. Hahahahahahahaha!
